Form, line, material. Weight, sound and smell. These visceral and tactile responses to pots are what drive my making. From the cut of a rib on the edge of a bowl to the damp feel of the clay while wedging for a series of cups. These simple tasks carry over from the studio to the kitchen. As a potter my goal is to create simple, well-constructed utilitarian objects; that if allowed into our daily lives aim to elicit a bond between object and user. Through use comes intimacy. Through this intimacy comes the connection between the maker and the object—the object to the user.
